Have an idea but no one’s paying attention? Or maybe you have a great product or business, but no one to market it to...

Whatever it is, there will be people who are interested. You just need to attract them and build an email list. That’s what link building pages are for, and ClickFunnels is a platform with one of the easiest opt-in page builders.

In this post, I’ll show you what you need to build a link building page and how exactly to do it on ClickFunnels.

What is a List Building Page?

A list building page is a landing page with the sole aim to get a visitor’s information, particularly their email address. Sometimes, it’s an individual page with no links directing to other pages. It could also be a page that’s only part of a website.

For the purpose of this tutorial, we’ll be focusing on how to make an individual list building page with the sole purpose of getting people’s information.

What You Need to Create a List Building Page

I’m talking about the bare necessities of a list building page. Stripped down to the ultimate essentials, there are only two things that should be on EVERY list building page:

Call to Action

The call to action is the second most important thing in a list building page. It’s the element that pushes your visitors to sign up and submit their information.

People could have every intention of giving you their email, but wouldn’t just because you didn’t tell them to. Having a call to action, whether it’s part of the page copy or a button, is crucial to encourage action.

Quick Note:

You should have only ONE call to action in your list building page.

Opt-In Form

The form should NEVER be missing from your list building page. Or hard to find. It should be easily spotted by your visitors. Just by seeing the form fields and submit button, your visitors are most likely to put in their information.

The two options for your opt-in form are:

Pop-up or Slide-In

On-Page Opt-In Form

Other Elements That Increase Conversion

Your page would look too blank and not enticing if it’s just the call to action and the form. This list consists of things that you can put or leave out of your page at your discretion.

High-Value Content

Before people give you their valuable information, you should give visitors value first. Useful content that they can see right from the page is one. It also filters your list to people who are genuinely interested in what you’ll be talking about or selling them.

Low-Risk Offer

Or simply, a FREE lead magnet:

  • Case study
  • Webinar
  • Video
  • Checklist
  • Cheat Sheet
  • Toolkit

  • Discount or coupon

Testimonials

If you encounter someone for the first time, would you believe everything they say right away? Obviously not! People are more likely to believe you if other people vouch for you or what you have to say… Hence, the testimonials.

Exit Pop-Up

An exit pop-up is an ad or call to action that’s triggered when a visitor is about to exit the page. It gives you a chance one last time to get back the attention of the person and direct them to sign up to your list.

Double Opt-In

A double opt-in can start from the page itself. Remember when I said the call to action can be a button? That is how double opt-in works. You want your visitors to do an action, that is the call to action button, BEFORE they get to the actual opt-in form.

How to Create a List Building Page in ClickFunnels

ClickFunnels have tons of opt-in page templates available. Creating a list building page takes as short as 10 minutes between the creation of a funnel to customizing the page to your liking. If you want to see what it looks like before going to ClickFunnels, let me show you the steps.

1

Step 1 - Create a New Funnel

From the funnels page, click on ‘Add a New Funnel’. Choose the goal of the funnel: Collect emails. An alternative is to close the pop-up and select the Lead Magnet funnel type instead.

2

Step 2 - Select a Template for an Opt-In Page

Choosing the goal also simultaneously selects the opt-in funnel and you’ll have a selection of templates available.

Instead of starting from scratch, take advantage of the pre-built templates in ClickFunnels to make the process shorter. There are paid and free templates.
