“Divi takes WordPress to a whole new level with its incredibly advanced visual builder technology.” - Elegant Themes
The popular WordPress premium theme and ultimate WordPress Builder, Divi is the fastest and easiest way to create a website.
When you are building a website in WordPress, you are working with an interface that is solely built for creating content and not design. You are working on the backend and you have no idea how what you do will actually reflect on the site. With that, it is pretty tricky to create something which will look attractive.
“With Divi, you can create your WordPress website on the actual website, in real-time,” as described Elegant Themes.
What is Divi?
Divi is a hugely popular theme and site builder with its own drag and drop interface. Elegant Themes, the creator of Divi is one of the most popular theme stores for WordPress on the market. For someone who is new to website building, Divi is definitely the way to go.
If you wanna add a widget or text, with a simple click, it’s there. Voila!
“Everything is drag and drop and totally customizable - shape, size, font, color, and with over 40 different content elements, there’s nothing you can’t add. Building a website with Divi is now like creating a masterpiece, only a whole lot easier.” - Elegant Themes
How Does Divi Work?
Getting Divi is pretty easy. Simply go to this page on Elegant Themes. Under ‘All Products’ you can choose whether you want the theme or just the builder plugin. The theme already includes the builder, if you don’t mind adding the theme to your WP site. Or simply click ‘Join to Download’.

If you think your project is going to last for three years or more, I highly recommend getting the lifetime membership. However, if you want to test it out first if it works for you, you can opt for the yearly access. Don’t worry because you can always opt for the free trial. After that, enter your details to create an account with them.
Then, you’re all set to download the product. As with other page builders, you can easily install Divi by adding the downloaded zip file of the plugin to your WordPress Dashboard and then, activate it. To do this, simply go to WordPress’ Dashboard, then Appearance, and click Themes.
To install Divi on your site, click on “Add New” on the upper left-hand side, then click “Upload Theme.” After that, a “Choose File” button will appear, simply click it and then select the Divi Theme folder that you have downloaded, install, and activate it.
To use your new Divi Theme, go back to your website, refresh it, and you will see the Divi logo, which means that you have successfully uploaded Divi. Now, all you have to do is activate Divi by going back to the WordPress Dashboard, clicking Divi, and the Updates tab. Under that tab, enter your username and the API Key that you can find on My Account in the Elegant Themes site.
You can now go back to your website and create your new Homepage. Everything is just so easy to create and edit. Through simple clicks, drags, and drops, you can customize the page into how you would like it to look!
Best of Divi: What I Like
What I really like about Divi is that it is really easy to customize and navigate, especially for a beginner content creator or newbie website builder. While it is true that having a background in coding is going to be really helpful in building a page, with Divi, coding background or not, you can still create a masterpiece out of your site.
Also, for total beginners when it comes to page building, Divi has good documentation and there are tons of tutorials on how to use Divi as it is already a hugely popular product, so even though you are a newbie and still getting the hang of creating and editing pages, using Divi will be so easy and efficient, you will undoubtedly be able to finish all your website in lesser time than you think.
A/B Testing Capability
A split testing tool was recently added to Divi’s extensive set of features. It’s a built-in tool that lets you test 2 different variations of the same element of your page to know which one performs best – that is, which garners more response from website visitors.

Just right-click on the module element, and click 'Split Test'.
Typically what’s split tested is the heading of the page. It could also be the call to action, but with the A/B testing feature of Divi, you can select other elements on the page. It’s not restricted to the copy or text, you can also test some elements like the header, for example.
The split test feature is a well-thought-out feature that marketers can utilize. You’ll be asked what subject you’ll be testing and what your goal is for the split test, and Divi provides some stats to reveal the results.
Great Divi Theme Documentation

As I mentioned earlier, Elegant Themes has great documentation of their Divi products. You can access them here. They have tutorials for the modules, using the builder, the theme, learning the basics in general, customizing the Divi theme, and using the Divi library.
Messenger Service for Support
Divi had a history of poor support that was a big annoyance for early users. A common complaint was they didn’t respond quickly or at all to user queries. Now they have the messenger service where you can open a support ticket for any problems that can’t be answered by their documentation.
It’s Divi’s solution to what users before complained most about, which also shows that they listen to their users. If it’s important to you, they also have active FB groups to interact with other users and get peer support other than from the Divi team.
This solution is much like what other page builders have, but the messenger service is starting to become a strength of the product. Having experienced some not-necessarily-nightmarish-but-super-annoying support problems with other digital products in the past, good support has been a major criteria when signing up to new products like Divi.

32 Language Translations

These are the things that you wouldn’t think about, but the fact that Divi considered language translations is telling of how much they put emphasis on users’ convenience when they created Divi. That’s a big plus! And of course, if your native language is any of the above and you’re more comfortable with it than English, Divi might be a better option. Also a bonus, they support right to left languages.
Priority on Security

The Divi theme has undergone an intensive coding audit by WordPress’ security company, Sucuri, and it passed. There are “0 coding issues”, which supports what other users have commonly remarked that Divi is great for SEO. Don’t take my word for this because I have no metrics to provide evidence that this is true, but the feedback I’ve been seeing and this Sucuri Safe Seal tells me my site will be safe with Divi.
What You Can Do With Divi
Divi is a really easy tool that you can use to create and customize pages. You can build your own page, browse and choose premade layouts, and even clone an existing page! In seconds, you have a layout for your page.
Adding and changing text is also a piece of cake with Divi. Simply select the text and then enter your own text. The same goes for images, shapes, and so on. You can simply hover your mouse over any element or click on it, and the available options will basically show up. You can also drag and drop any element should you want to move them. Literally, everything on the page can be customized! How amazingly easy is that?
Save Custom Layouts and Choose Which Pages to Apply Them To
Global layouts is a common feature among page builders, but what makes Divi different is that you can create as many templates as you want for different kinds of blogs and pages. When you create a new blog or page, you can select which templates to use. Additionally, when you go to Divi > Theme Builder from the WP Dashboard, you will see which categories or types of pages and blogs a template was used for. It’s easy to see visually for better organization of your site.
Build Category Pages
Building category pages is made easy with Divi. It’s easy to create blog pages or, if you’re running an e-commerce site, products pages. Category pages are an even deeper classification of those. For blogs, you can create categories like ‘thought pieces’, ‘how-to tutorials’, ‘listicles’, etc. If for e-commerce, you can create categories of your products to organize them better and provide visitors with a more specific selection of products. Those kinds of pages are very easy to make a template for within Divi.
Use Custom CSS for Effects

Divi allows custom CSS inputs for more responsive editing. You can add effects to your elements, and you can probably find custom CSS codes online if you want to copy from others who’ve made tutorials of Divi.
Divi has specific CSS input boxes for certain parts of a Divi element. Like with this call-to-action module, you can input custom CSS ID and classes, and also other input boxes for each part of the module element.
Integrate with WooCommerce

Divi has full integration with WooCommerce, and the pricing plans also include WooCommerce modules. What makes Divi really good for e-commerce websites is the A/B testing feature. You can really utilize that to optimize your pages with calls to action, especially landing pages, the homepage, product pages, etc. Divi is on par with other page builders like Elementor when it comes to design, but the A/B testing feature is a major plus that I haven’t seen in other popular page builders.
Pricing

Judging by the pricing, Divi seems good value for money. The only thing is that the yearly plan is around the same range as other page builders’ yearly fees, but with the lifetime plan, I can get a more affordable deal with other page builders.
Recommended or Not?
As someone who was literally learning the ropes while using Divi, I must say that this tool is unbelievably easy and convenient to use. There are not too many confusing things and it is pretty much straightforward. It is like a plug and play tool for building and customizing a site. It was also fairly priced, considering that there is so much that you can do with Divi.
As its creator mentioned, “Divi is more than just a WordPress theme, it's a completely new website building platform that replaces the standard WordPress post editor with a vastly superior visual editor. It can be enjoyed by design professionals and newcomers alike, giving you the power to create spectacular designs with surprising ease and efficiency.”
It is also the easiest stepping stone for newbies of page building to learn more about how to create a website without having to learn codes. I dare say that Divi is like the face of the new age of web designing!
